Leadership in Standards
Without standards, integrating data and applications in schools is inefficient and costly. As evidence of our commitment to standards-based integrations, Kimono is a member and active participant in several standards bodies.
Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC)
Kimono is an active participant in the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC), a collaborative of schools, districts, regional, territories and state agencies, policy makers, trade organizations and marketplace providers addressing real-world, adaptable, and implementable solutions to growing data privacy concerns. In our work with the SDPC, we advocate for solutions that are feasible for both schools and vendors, and evangelize the committee’s work with SEAs, districts, and vendors. We helped refine the architectural model SDPC uses to represent the complex web of data interactions in education, and we participate in the development and evolution of the contract framework and other projects SDPC undertakes. Access 4 Learning (A4L)
Members of the Kimono team have long held multiple positions within the A4L community (previously the SIF Association), which is a non-profit collaboration composed of schools, districts, local authorities, states, US and International Ministries of Education, software vendors, and consultants who collectively address all aspects of learning information management and access to support learning. Kimono currently holds positions on the Board of Directors and the North American Technical Board, and participates in the Strategic Direction Setting Group. Learn more about A4L.
IMS Global Learning Consortium
Kimono participates on the OneRoster Product Steering Committee for IMS Global, a non-profit member collaborative focused on the future of educational and learning technology. Their plug & play architecture and ecosystem provides a foundation on which innovative products can be rapidly deployed and work seamlessly together. OneRoster is a data standard for securely sharing roster, course, and enrollment information between systems and is seeing broad adoption across the ecosystem. Learn more about IMS Global.
Our Standards Agnostic Philosophy
At Kimono, we also know that one standard is not going to work for everyone. That is why our iPaaS (integration platform as a service) supports a growing list of data standards, as well as other common connection methods such as APIs and CSV. Watch our animated demo to learn more.
